ACM SIGCHI KUALA LUMPUR CHAPTER

We are a non profit association passionate in creating awareness for HCI and UX in Malaysia

23 April 2020 – myHCI-UX has organised a webinar on HCI education specifically on how to prepare online HCI courses. This session also organised In collaboration with IEEE SMC Malaysian Chapter.  As we are in Covid-19 Pandemic period therefore many courses have to be conducted online. This include HCI courses where user centred design and prototyping are critical.  In the session some relevant topics have been discussed through sharing experience which include  preparing content, ensuring proper delivery, ensuring students excitement and engagement and understanding for the topics. This topic has been recently discussed via online at HCUM Munich. They discussed how to make remote HCI Teaching Useful, engaging and exciting. The challenges and issues are also directly relevant for HCI educators and learners in our country, Malaysia.  

The webinar session has been titled “Preparing online HCI courses: Experience Challenges”. It was conducted on 23/April/2020 via Zoom platform, from 11.30am, due to excitement and interesting discussion, the session was extended to almost 1:00pm. The session has been joined by four  discussants from four different universities in our country Malaysia.

 Discussants:

  2. Dr Haliyana  Khalid –  UTM
  3. Dr Noris Mohd Norawi – UPM
  4. Ts. Dr. Nor’Ain Binti Mohd Yusoff – MMU 

The session has been moderated by Dr Ahmad Hanif Ahmad Baharin from UKM and facilitated by Ts. Dr. Muhammad Haziq Lim Abdullah from UTeM.  

Forty -six (46) participants have registered whom are from various universities and organisation in Malaysia, which include IIUM, UUM, UNITEN, UKM, UiTM Melaka, APU, UiTM Pahang, UTP, UiTM Raub, MMU, UPM, UiTM Shah Alam, UTM, UTeM, KPM and Terengganu. On one the participant University of Sialkot, Pakistan.   

As the session was also broadcast in FB live, we have 4-6 viewers. Later the recording was viewed by more than 75 participants.
