Call for Position Papers

Malaysia is already in its full gear in fulfilling its ICT agenda by providing digital services and solutions in various niche areas, agriculture, medical, education, economic, etc. With the advent of recent technologies, heading towards the IR 4.0, the needs to posit human or people in the central of the agenda, has never been more important. Providing today’s technology, is not sufficient with just the production of high-tech, remarkable systems, but also those which solutions the people can engage with, feel entrusted to, and gain added-values towards their emotions, feelings and experience in general.

The goal of this one-day symposium (Friday, 15th February 2019), will be to map out the HCI work (past and current) by gathering local HCI academicians and practitioners in Malaysia. In the context of our country that is diverse and has rich cultural life (hence: fusion), our aim is to learn from one another’s ongoing research on HCI of various domains, and explore the possibilities of collaborative work. Ultimately, the outcome of the symposium is to set path on how HCI can contribute and make an impact in the landscape of Malaysia’s ICT and digital transformation.

Paper & Publication

We invite interested researchers to submit 1-2 page position paper (exclude references) that addresses the theme of the symposium. It can be a description of works carried out, ongoing and upcoming, that has and will benefit a community or society. We highly encourage the paper to be written to represent an institution, or a research group, or a group of collaborators who are already working together on a specific topic / topics. The paper should also include a short author(s) biography.

Accepted position papers will be compiled into a proceeding. Findings from the symposium will be published in the form of chapters of a research book, with each chapter is an extension from the position papers, and/or, a consolidate direction of each research work or topic from the symposium itself, where the chapter(s) may be written together by authors from different institutions.
